Empowering lives Everywhere

What we do

Malnutrition does not only affect an individual but an entire generation's health, educational attainment, and socioeconomic status, which is a loop that needs to be broken!

ZealGrit Foundation is a non-profit organisation committed to addressing malnutrition, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and women in India, recognising them as crucial to building healthier communities. We implement innovative and sustainable projects to provide the necessary knowledge, resources, and opportunities to combat malnutrition. Our ultimate goal is to create a well-nourished, informed, and healthy society. We adopt a life-cycle approach focusing on Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices, integrating Social Behavior Change strategies to address malnutrition effectively.

ADOLESCENT HEALTH

Our commitment to adolescent health drives our mission to provide comprehensive support and resources for young people, especially girls. Recognising the critical impact of adolescent nutrition on lifelong health, we aim to shift attitudes and practices surrounding health and nutrition. We foster environments where healthy choices are the norm by equipping adolescents with the knowledge and resources needed for informed decisions regarding their unique health journeys. Our tailored educational programs cover age-appropriate nutritional needs, menstrual health, reproductive and sexual health, mental well-being, and more. By collaborating with schools, parents, communities, and government, we create a supportive network that reinforces positive behaviours and promotes long-term health and wellness.

RESEARCH

At our core, we are dedicated to using robust research to inform our work. We understand the importance of evidence-based approaches in tackling complex societal challenges. By grounding our interventions in solid research, we ensure they are tailored to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.

Our team is composed of experienced researchers and subject matter experts, all committed to a research-focused approach. We prioritize empathetic listening and ethnographic understanding to truly grasp the needs of the communities we aim to support. This commitment drives us to push the boundaries of what’s possible through innovative programming.

We believe that theoretically informed social work leads to deeper community engagement. Our goal is to be at the forefront of this endeavour, continuously striving to make a meaningful impact.

RMNCH

At ZealGrit, we enhance health outcomes through a focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (RMNCH). We empower women and caregivers by providing essential knowledge about reproductive health, child development, and nutrition, promoting healthier behaviours through direct community engagement. We drive social and behavioural change by offering accurate information and robust support, ensuring healthier futures for all. Recognizing the critical importance of the first 1000 days of life, our programs prioritise prenatal care, safe childbirth, postnatal support, child nutrition, and immunizations. We collaborate with healthcare providers, community health workers, and families to establish a strong support network, contributing to the development of healthier communities.

Our approach

A graphic showing ZealGrit's approach to solving malnutrition among communities it serves. It has four elements: Need assessment, collaboration, pilot model, and theory of change. Need assessment focused on conducting thorough research using primary and secondary data to understand communities unique needs. Collaboration involves partnering with local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs/CSOs to co-create and pilot innovative programs to tackle malnutrition, piloting involves designing and executing models for effective implementation, and finally creating a theory of change which will create sustainable replicable theories to tackle malnutrition

We focus on two critical windows of opportunity—the first 1000 days of life (from conception to the child’s second birthday) and the adolescent phase.
